About the Lab
DiChlor is an independent laboratory that specializes in potato chemistries and analyses. Our area of expertise is potato anti-sprouting agent residue analysis. Your potatoes represent a large investment and you need to protect that investment. Monitoring the chemical residues on your potatoes gives you the necessary information you need to determine the optimal timing and precise quantities required for effective sprout control throughout the season. DiChlor can analyze your residues to give you this valuable information. We have state of the art equipment and highly trained chemists specializing in CIPC, 1,4SIGHT, clove oil, and Amplify residue analysis. As a result, we can offer accurate, inexpensive and fast results. All laboratory work is conducted following Standard Operating Procedures developed using Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) guidelines. Specific information about the services that we offer can be found on the ‘Services’ page on this site or contact the lab directly for information. If you’re still not sure where to start our staff can assist in developing sampling protocols and regimes, as well as help in determining appropriate sample sizes, timing intervals, establishing standards, and assisting in interpreting test data.
Analytical data will not be shared with any third parties without express written consent from the customer who ordered the analytical service. We maintain strict safeguards to ensure data security.
Meet the DiChlor Team
Dave was born in Virginia, raised in the Midwest, and went to college in Montana. He received his B.S. in Chemistry and his M.S. in Geochemistry from University of Montana – Montana Tech. Dave worked at Lockheed-Martin as a Materials and Processes Engineer for eight years, specializing in ion chromatography and atomic spectroscopy. He worked as an Environmental Chemist in atomic spectroscopy at Analytical Laboratories, Inc. for four years. He spent 10 years at Micron as a Chemist using inductively coupled plasma/mass spectroscopy and as a Surface Scientist specializing in Auger electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. He started at DiChlor in June 2008 as the Laboratory Manager working in high performance liquid chromatography and gas chromatography. Dave enjoys camping and hiking with his dog Bailey.
Kelly was born and raised in southern Idaho and received her B.S. in Microbiology from University of Idaho. She spent a year working as a chemist and lab manager at Blue Sky Biodiesel, working closely with the team to implement changes in the production based on laboratory analysis (mainly from gas chromatography, pH, and flash-points). Prior to starting work at DiChlor, she worked in the microbiology field for MSI in Jerome, Idaho as a research scientist. Her time at MSI was spent developing the M-Vac, a new technology for sampling for surface bacteria and DNA. Kelly started at DiChlor in November 2010 as a laboratory analyst. Though Kelly still has a keen interest in microbiology, she will admit that there are some perks to working in a chemistry lab…with the smell of the lab topping the list! Kelly has been married to her husband, Stehvn, for 7 years and they have two energetic girls that keep them on their toes! They enjoy photography and traveling just about anywhere (though these days the majority of their travels take them to Florida, Canada, and Colorado to visit family).
Michael Bates joined 1,4GROUP, Inc. in December of 2009. He is the Operations Manager and is responsible for overseeing the warehouse, company safety program, real estate, aircraft department, and DiChlor Laboratory.
Michael is a native Idahoan who was raised on family farms. He is a graduate of Boise State University and has a distinguished military career, retiring as a senior officer/commander. He spent 26 years in aircraft maintenance/management and completed his career as the 124th Wing Vice Commander in the Idaho Air National Guard. He worked as a building construction project manager for three years before coming to 1,4GROUP. Michael says, “At 1,4GROUP, I have the best of both worlds, my love for aviation and strong roots in agriculture.”
Michael has been married to his wife, Quinn, for 41 years and they have 2 grown sons, Phil and Conner. Michael is a licensed private pilot and enjoys the challenges and views that flying offers. He loves flying with his commercial pilot son, Phil, and family in his spare time. He also enjoys camping with his family throughout Idaho and the northwest during the summer, and spoiling his granddaughter.
Cindy has worked with 1,4GROUP, Inc and DiChlor Analyitical Laboratories since 2006. She is responsible for payroll, IT, accounts receivable, shipping, and logistics. In her life ouside of work, Cindy enjoys creating jewelery, stained glass pieces, and handwork. Cindy and her husband enjoy camping and spending time with their family.
